Planning Water Supply and Demand Scenarios With Interactive Power BI Dashboards

The "Power BI and Data Analytics for Enviros" meetup group is all about sharing tips, tricks and hacks for analysing, visualising and communicating environmental data. The purpose of this blog is to summarise the key take-aways from the sessions, to help with sharing knowledge, empowering others and creating a strong data culture across our community.

May 2024: Session summary

In this session, Dr. Ayman Alafifi guided us through real-world examples of how public water providers and private consumers can use Power BI to forecast water demand, compare and rank water supply alternatives, and plan for an uncertain future.

He has led multiple hydraulic and hydrological modelling and planning efforts and was the technical lead for numerous large-scale decision support tools. He is experienced in leveraging advances in technology such as automation, cloud computing, and dashboards to streamline the planning and operations of complex systems, prioritize alternatives, and improve communication of modelling and planning outputs. Ayman currently leads the technical innovation at EKI Water & Environment consulting firm, where he develops dashboards and decision support tools to help public and private sector clients efficiently manage their environmental data.
