It all started with a simple observation…
DiscoverEI was founded by Alice and Christian in April 2019. It was discovered on the back of a very simple observation:
The world we live in is changing.
As two environmental engineers who have worked in the consulting industry for nearly a decade, we have witnessed first-hand the stresses on our environment.

As our cities continue to expand and our climate changes, our natural systems will be placed under even more pressure.
We need to rethink how we manage our precious environment!

A flood of data
We are fortunate to be living in an age where technology is constantly evolving. As environmental engineers, this technology now provides us with an exciting opportunity to harness big data, where we can monitor, analyse, and predict changes to our complex environmental systems in real time.
“However, technology now creates a new challenge of it’s own; where organisations can literally become flooded with data”
As engineers, we spent a large chunk of our time collating and processing data. We produced lengthy, static reports, with hundreds of pages of appendices to present this data.
However, this made it hard for our clients to navigate through and difficult to decipher the key insights from the noise.

Alice and Christian started DiscoverEI because they believed that there was a more effective way to navigate, visualise and share environmental data so that we can work together and make data driven decisions about the future sustainability of our environment.
Our mission is to bring environmental data to life!
Our aim is to translate the numbers on the page into interactive and dynamic visuals, which our clients can use to understand these complex environmental problems we are working together to solve.
So we set out to explore how we could take advantage of the different tools at our disposal, such as business intelligence, computer animations and immersive technology, and apply these to help bridge the communication gap within the environmental industry.
